Milestone constructed a new studio and residence hall facility for the New Hampshire Institute of Art at 88 Lowell Street in Manchester. The project included the relocation of the original Manchester High School, a two-story brick building constructed in the 1840’s, to one side of the site; and erecting a steel-framed six-story building adjacent to it to house studio space on the basement, first, and second levels, and student housing on the second through sixth levels. The project was constructed to LEED Gold standards. The project includes a geothermal heating and cooling system, rainwater harvesting for non-potable water use, and photovoltaic panels for energy production. This four-story 38,000 square foot academic building houses the Tilton School science laboratories, language laboratories, learning center, fresh study halls, administrative offices, a lecture hall, and a three-story atrium that also serves as a "Town Square" for students to congregate and meet. The project was designed by Scott Simons Associates.

Maloney Hall, designed by Scott Simons Architects, is a three-story wood-framed structure with wood trim and clapboards to compliment the adjacent Smart Chapel and the historic Tilton mansion, which serves as the school's library. The building provides housing for twenty students as well as containing three faculty townhouses. The project was designed by Scott Simons Associates.


Colby Sawyer College, Curtis L. Ivey Science Center

Milestone was the construction manager of this 32,000 square foot life science building for Colby Sawyer College. The building was designed by Dignard Architectural Services. Milestone worked with the college over a three-year period for fundraising and development purposes. The building design included conventional structural steel framing with concrete decks and a structural steel stud roof rafter framing. The building houses the Colby Sawyer College science laboratories, classrooms, lecture halls, and faculty offices.


Paul Smith School

From 1995 to 1997, Milestone worked with the Franklin School District to completely renovate the existing Paul Smith School. The construction was phased to allow for complete operation of the school and was accomplished over a period of three summers. In 2006, the Franklin School District came to Milestone to construct an addition to the building. The architectural design developed by the H. L. Turner Group includes a high performance envelope for engineering efficiency along with a state-of-the-art mechanical ventilation system with energy management for optimum air quality throughout the building.


Seacoast Science Center

The renovations to the Seacoast Science Center consisted of a complete retrofit of the existing science center including structural modifications, new electrical and mechanical systems, a new fire protection system, interior finishes, and a new aquatic life support system and exhibits. The project had an aggressive schedule to keep the winter shutdown to a minimum. The project was designed by Warrenstreet Architects.

Milestone preformed a Design/Build contract for the Center for Educational Innovation at New England College in Henniker, New Hampshire. This two-story, 14,000 square foot building, was constructed on a very tight 1.6 million dollar budget. The building contains state of the art video conferencing and computer ready innovative teaching spaces. The building also houses the Department of Elementary Education. The design of the building, which is located next to the historic Henniker Town Hall, needed to project a forward moving college, yet adapt to the historical surroundings. The white clapboard building design with exciting new entrance designed by Sherman Greiner Halle Ltd. made this all possible. The project was designed by CN Carley Associates.

The Second Start Project included the substantial renovation and rehabilitation of the former Garrison School. The renovation included the original historic 1905, three-story structure along with a 1967 single-story classroom addition. The building houses an adult education center and a one hundred ten children day care center. The project was designed by CN Carley Associates.

Milestone worked with Colby Sawyer College in the development and construction of a new 30,000 square foot student residence hall at Colby Sawyer College. This three-story wood-framed student facility provides not only student apartments, but also seminar rooms and a conservatory. The building was designed by Dignard Architectural Services of New Boston, New Hampshire.


University of New Hampshire

Milestone was Construction Manager for the three million dollar renovation of the downtown campus for the University of New Hampshire at Manchester. This extensive rehabilitation of an existing mill building was performed over a twelve month period while maintaining all day to day operations of the University. Working with the architect, Lavallee Brensinger PA and the University staff, Milestone developed a comprehensive four-phase building program which allowed various areas to be renovated and allowed the University to vacate occupied areas on semester breaks and vacation breaks.

The University at Manchester included a full service college library constructed on the lower level of the mill building. This attractive library facility was constructed in what was the machine shop for the original mill.
