Milestone constructed a new studio and residence hall facility for the New Hampshire Institute of Art at 88 Lowell Street in Manchester. The project included the relocation of the original Manchester High School, a two-story brick building constructed in the 1840’s, to one side of the site; and erecting a steel-framed six-story building adjacent to it to house studio space on the basement, first, and second levels, and student housing on floors two through six. The project was constructed to LEED standards and recevied LEED Gold Certification. The project also included a geothermal heating and cooling system, rainwater harvesting for non-potable water use, and photovoltaic panels for energy production. The project was topped off on May 5, 2009, and was completed in the fall of 2009.
